| Hand Hooked Rugs by Ruth Holden These rugs are just so scrumptious. Ruth starts with the pure wool fleece fresh from the sheep, then washes, combs and lightly spins it to give the wonderful knobbly texture of the rugs which she hooks by hand into a hessian backing. It takes her a whole day of careful hooking to make one square foot of rug. Fabulously hard wearing, the rugs can even be machine washed if they get grubby. Working spontaneously, Ruth achieves a rare exuberance with her designs. Please note that due to the weird and wonderful camera angles the rugs look a different shape to how they really are, they are actually regular rectangles. |
